Flying to Budapest Tomorrow!

So it’s finally time to fly out of NZ! I’ve never been on a flight longer than 3.5 hours so a 30 hour flight is a bit nerve racking for me. This week has been filled with errands. No spare time, with training and getting everything ready to leave. Yip, I always leave everything to the last minute. It’s human nature, or is it just me?

Christchurch Earthquake

This morning we had a 7.4 scale earthquake which was a scary wake-up. Where we live is ok but in lots of places Christchurch is pretty damaged. We were rationing water and had no power for most of today. The town looks like a mess and is blocked off because of some kids looting the shops in town.

Here’s a video of some of the damage around.

Getting Ready for Budapest

So I couldn’t do my swim training this morning with the pool being closed. I hope it’s not too badly damaged. I did a 1.5 hour windtrainer session in the garage then couldn’t have a shower! Scott heated up a pot of water on the BBQ outside for me to wash with. This was crazy!

I’m writing up this post mainly for all the people who have supported me so they can see what I’ve been up to. Would love your comments below!

As you can tell this is my first time going to the World Champs, by the way I get excited about everything – Like having my name on my tri suit!

Here’s a photo of my tri suit. Thanks to Gooses Screen Printing in Christchurch for doing this for me!

Here’s my super cool Tri NZ Team jacket

And of course my Team Avanti Cadent!

In my super cool John Bull Cycles gears!

Triathlon World Champs

There won’t be any coverage of the race I’m in over in Budapest. It starts on Sept 11th between 6:50 and 8:30am. As soon as I’m finished I’ll make sure I contact someone so you can all find out how I did. I’ll have internet there so that night I’ll be able to put up a quick blog post and send a quick email.

Thanks

Just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who’s helped me out! If anyone wants any gear from the world champs let me know. They’ll be selling t shirts and things there.

I’ll keep everyone updated. Oh and for those of you who are interested here is a photo of a cruise I’m going on after the race around Venice, Greece, Croatia and Turkey!

Bye for now!
